| Hanoi | Which travel agent(s) to go for and avoid? Posted: Sat March 15, 2008 06:00 AM UTC
Dear everyone,
I am going to Hanoi end of next week. I would probably stay in Hanoi and arrange some day trips or overnight trips in and around Hanoi. Does anyone know which travel agents I should avoid or approach? Thank you. Kaplan |

Hi,
I have used Asiatica Travel in Hanoi for both of my 3 week trips in the region. I know by their site that they dodo 1, 2, or 3 day types of tour and can well recommend them. www.asiaticatravel.com

I was very pleased with ODC Travel -- Hanoi city tour and a tour to Hoa Lu and Tam Coc (including a boat ride):

We used a number of agents: in HCMC we were very impressed with the professionalism of the budget travel agency Sinh Cafe (make sure it is the genuine one; check out http://www.sinhcafevn.com/AboutUs.asp).
We did the 2-day Mekong Delta as well as Cao Dai/Cu Chi Tunnels with them. The guides were approachable and knowledgeable. Provided water and snacks on the bus. The overnight tour included accommodation in an adequate hotel in Can Tho. Duc, the tour guide to Cao Dai/Cu Chi even stopped the bus to allow us photos of rice paddies and Black Lady Mountain, which signifies the border with Cambodia. They even give you a nice blue t-shirt with Sinh Cafe logo on the front and map of Vietnam on the back! Sinh Cafe have offices in Hanoi. In north Vietnam we used the services of Tonkin Travel, which is more up-market, but also more exclusive. They organised our Halong Bay trip (luxury on the Bhaya - would not go any other way!), which included motorised transfer to and from Halong Bay with a very safe and consciencious driver. We also had a private tour of Tam Coc and Hoa Lu with a very knowledgeable guide. Payment options were easy. Staff also provided lots and lots of information and tips prior to arrival in Vietnam (they communicate via Skype or email). Tonkin is at http://www.tonkintravel.com/ I would recommend both these agencies.
