Birmingham Cost of luggage storage at Birmingham New Street station?

Does anyone know the charges for storing luggage at Birmingham New Street station? I have emailed the company concerned but have had no response yet.

Many thanks.

The same company runs all left luggage at stations and airports in the UK Presumably this is the website you've seen?

http://www.excess-baggage.com/rail_station_services.php

Phoning them might be easier than emailing, though they may eventually get back to you. Possibly.

It won't be particularly cheap: I have a figure of around 4-5GBP per item per 24 hours (or part of) in my head, but as I never use the service I can't be certain.

Thanks for the estimate.

That is the same website - I've tried calling a couple of times but no reply (hmm, dont answer the phone or emails...doesnt bode well for customer service!). But you're right about it being the same company in train stations - and as I'll be passing through Lime Street next week I can call in the office there. Thanks for prompting that thought!

It's a monopoly in the UK.........why should they 'do' customer service??? :-)

The whole left luggage thing became a nightmare with security issues (beginning with the IRA bombings). One company has the UK monopoly and (to be fair) is willing to fund the scanning/security etc etc, so I don't suppose they're particularly bothered about keeping their customers happy. If you want to leave your luggage, and the hotel won't oblige, you have no option; they don't need to be specially nice to draw in customers!

At least Birmingham has a left luggage facility: the vast majority of UK places don't!

I went on a night out there once and left one bag overnight at the station, £4-£5 sounds about right!
