| Alexandria | Suez route from Alexandria to St. Catherine's Monastery Posted: Fri March 14, 2008 07:21 PM UTC
I plan to hire a car for the daylight drive from Alexandria to St. Catherine's Monastery. I am wondering if a drive by Port Said and across the suspension bridge is the most scenic way to travel. Any suggestions as to the route? I believe there is a view point along the way, if it is still open. What about a stop at the ancient turqoise mines in the Sinai? Thanks for the help.

Such tours normally goes through Ahmed Hamdy Tunnel near by Suez, as it closer to South Sinai.
In such case you drive Alexandria - Cairo - Suez desert roads. In case you intend to go to Port Said you will follow the new Coast High way from Alexandria. In case you intend to go via Ismailia, you will have two choices: 1) The Delta way to Ismailia. 2) More Advisable Alexandria - Cairo - Ismailia desert roads. Best of luck.
