http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/speanbridge/speanbridge/index.html wil give you an idea.

The surrounding roads will be like roads anywhere: greyish tarmac, some only wide enough for one vehicle, the majority wide enough for two to pass. There will often be a white line down the middle of the latter. As the village has good car parking and lies at the junction of two major roads (A-roads) it's unlikely that you'll have any difficulties with driving.

See my previous reply to your question.

I should have added that VT has pages and tips on Spean Bridge:

You are handy for Fort William, which is the busiest town in that part of the world you get to go Glen Coe, which is pretty stunning (you not a Campbell are you) and there is a railway station so you there is another way to escape

Hi. Your Home Page doesn't say where you live so I'm not sure what to compare the roads to. If you've ever driven in the US, compare the roads to the typical state highway. They are two lane, marked in the middle. If you get off the main roads, you may run into 1-1/2 lane roads or even one lanes roads with pull-offs. Everyone is very polite about the pull offs and we had no trouble. If you are looking at Inverness and Spean Bridge, you will have excellent two-lane roads. There are not a lot of double highways, dual carriagways, Interstate-type roads in Scotland and they are near Edinburgh and Glasgow. Traffic is very light in the countryside so you really don't need four lanes.

If you've driven in France, they would be comparable to most N and D roads. They are well paved, well taken care of and little traffic.

But don't forget that no matter what it looks like on the map, it will take you much longer than you think to drive from A to B.
