Honolulu Cheaper hotel near Hilton Hawaiian Village?
Posted: Fri March 14, 2008 11:51 AM UTC
Would be staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on a company trip but after the official business I would like to find a cheaper alternative hotel/resort nearby to stay a few more days at my own expense. Any recommendations? Anything under $100?

Hi!

You can actually view a list of hotels around the Hilton -- it's automatically sorted by distance (so the closest places are listed first).

You can then read about each hotel, view pics, check rates, book online, etc. etc.

Hope that helps!

I paid $142 this week at the Princess Kaulani (spg.com), which is not under $100, but pretty cheap for a nice room.

There are two towards Diamond Head across Ft Derussy Park around $100 the Breakers and the Hawaiiana and mauka ( inland or mtn ) side are a few Gateway, Maile Sky Court used to be Ohana but I believe Castle now manages it and the Ambassador all three of these are under $100.
If you just want to save some money the latter three would do for a little more real Hawaii choose from the Breakers or Hawaiiana.

Thanks, everyone. This is a lot of useful info for me. This will be my first visit to Hawaii. I still don't know what to check out as yet. Would you suggest that since I would be staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village for a few nights, I should move somewhere further for the next few nights for a change? I don't drive, so I will be concerned about the hotel being easy to get around to places of interests.

Hi
The Buses in Honolulu are great!!
There is a Bus stop right in front of the Hilton and across the street another bus stop for coming back from all the other spots in Waikiki.. Also the Hilton has the trolleys to the different shopping centers start and stop right in their parking area. That is a great location for catching transportation.

I think that you could still find a good priced place in the middle of April..Most of the peak season would be coming to an end around the end of April..but the middle of April you might find still good deals...

I think I will go for Princess Kaulani. It is near the beach and near to the International Market Place.

Now I would need to bring my luggage from the Hilton to Princess Kaulani, how much would the taxi fare be?

Less than $10USD.... You could definitely walk it, but not really with bags.

Thanks. Nice to have some idea about the fare.

If it is near enough to walk, I could of course leave my luggage at Hilton and just pack a smaller bag to bring to Princess Kaulani and then on my last day, just go back to hilton to pick up my luggage before heading to the airport.
