Good morning from Oz to all you incredible travel advisers...I'd like to 'do' a tour out of Casablanca for about 3 weeks..not too arduous but interesting and exciting and of course at the right price...I can get a really good return airfare with Ethiad out of Brisbane, (only for May) so I'd be very grateful for any advice...thanks everyone..regards Elly in Oz.

You could rent a car and do your own trip - have a read of what to see and plan an excellent itinerary from Casablanca round trip. I love driving and driving around seeing the sights of Morocco and all thats there to photograph and so on.

have a read around my Morocco pages - tho a lot of the recommended spots Id recommend as a circuit from Casa are not done yet - but the Hassan mosque in Casa is a great place to start. north of Casa at Rabat and Sale, the exotic gardens, and up to Larache/Lixus and MOulay Bousselham, then lovely Asilah and maybe Tangier but then to excellent Chefchouen and down to Ouazzane and Fes - Volibulis and Moulay Idriss - then on down to Ifrane and Azrou - the sights down to Midelt and the Ziz Valley and on to Rissani and the sahara desert of Merzouga - then along the Dades Valley road to Todra and Dades Gorges, Skoura and Ouarzazate, Id even recommend a drive down the Draa Valley to Zagora and then back up to Ouarzazate and on to Telouet and then over the Tizintichka to Marrakech. you could go then to Tizintest and Taroudant with the back way down to Tafroute and then over the Col to Tiznit and Aglou and then up to Agadir and then to Essouira and on up the coast to Safi, Oulidia, El Jadida and so on back to Casa. if you have to do a circuit.

somewhere in there you can shorten it and cut bits out - but Cascade douzoud is nice to include as well.

for 3 weeks rental you could get a car for £20/300 dirham a day. a bit expensive maybe but i dont reckon - for the time and independence and just how much quality time and travel you get for your money - plus if compare with what you pay for a tour its probably more than £20 a day for your travel expenditure.

Let me know if any more help needed. and have a roam around travel guides made of travel pages with tips and photos put together by VTers who also want to pass the excellent things to see and do.

Or a couple of companies Id recommend to check out - www.africaoverlandtours.com (Abdul) or www.bareminimumtravel.com

or even the tour company called Intrepid.

It’s been years since I was in morocco and much of it’s a blur. I was a student (so price was a factor) we mainly used bus and train to get around, more experienced VT Morocco hands will tell you if that is still an option.

I’ve thinking about going over later this year and I was looking at the Moroccan Railways (ONCF) website, http://www.oncf.ma/ earlier this week, it’s in French but it's no problem ('horaires' is timetable and 'tarifs' is fares) train travel is still cheap as chips and may be worth considering if you’re on a budget.

However, you do tend to get quite a lot of unwanted attention, which might be worse if you're travelling alone so a guide might be a good idea if you can afford one

I also came across angiebabe and sachara’s VT pages which are loaded with useful stuff.

Greetings,

The main thing to see in Casa is HASSAN II mosque and the habous area next to the old part of the city.
You head north to Rabat(political capital of Morocco),do not miss the ouday garden, the chellah ruin(roman site) the hassan tower and theold medina.Meknes and Fez where a lot of things (historical monuments) to visit (4 days) in those cities.
You head to Volubilis and Errachidia,Erfoud donw in the dunes for the bivouac.
The dades gorges in tinghir, the valley of the roses in kelaa. Then OUARZAZTE (Current movie city) equivalent of US holooywood.
Zagora -the beautiful dune place and Islamic bookstore.
Marrakech --the pearl of the south -a lot of interesting things to do inside the city and in the outskirt.

You better off rent a small car (30 €) a day to make the most of it.
A reliable and professional Englisg speaking guide is needed especially in Fez,Marrakech.

If need more tips, feel free to contact me at:

Best,
Rachid
