Can anyone recommend any tried & tested restaurants in 7th Arrondissement, south bank, near to Church of Invalides.

I like the Christian Constant restaurants - I think that he has 3 now in the 7th; Violon d'Ingres is exquisite.
If you don't get more suggestions, just google 7th arrondissement, you'll find lots of suggestions like this for instance:

Depends on your price level.
And what you like.

Closest places that I have tried and liked are the classic Parisian brasserie, Thoumieux at 79, rue Saint-Dominique and the newer smaller Mediterranean/French Pasco at Bd. de la Tour Maubourg 74 right opposite Invalides.
A bit further would be La Fontaine de Mars upscale bistro and L'Ami Jean for Basque food. They are at 129 rue Saint-Dominique and 27 rue Malar respectively.
