| Vancouver | Biggest competitor to World Nomads? Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 07:14 PM UTC
Biggest competitor to World Nomads?
My 1st question is who is the biggest competitor to World Nomads travel insurance? The reason justifies my 2nd question, or problem? World Nomads requires all customers currently traveling to hold Provincial heath insurance (from back home). In my case, Canada, and the province of British Columbia. I don't want to go back there, and my provincial health insurance is expired. I have no insurance of any kind. Do I have to contact BC insurance and tell them I need insurance again just to apply for World Nomad's international travel insurance, or can I find an equivalent to World Nomads that will allow me to open a policy (while on the road, and via the net), without the need of provincial insurance from back home. I like World nOmads because they have an easy to use site, can make claims online, offer protection for the most important things (and then some), and because they offer renewable 6-month policies (good for me because I keep on traveling without the desire to return home). So who to sign travel insurance with? I need to do this fast as I don't like the idea of globetrotting without insurance. |

Travel insurance companies are normally secondary insurers. BCMed would be the primary insurer. To get BCMed you usually have to be a resident of BC at least once every 6 months. You may want to contact them or get local coverage where you are a resident.

thats exactly the problem,
i won't ever be returning to vancouver, and i don't stay long enough anywhere to become a resident of somewhere else. I'm always considered a tourist somewhere.. I need to find a travel insurance company that isn't concerned with my provincial health insurance status in Canada. There must be one (that's comparable to World Nomads)
