Gdansk Gdansk this weekend URGENT!!
Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 10:44 AM UTC
I went last November and had a fantastic time. My daughter and her boyfriend both 19 are going this weekend. Can anyone give me some advise on things for them to do. We were there a short time so didnt get out and about that much. C

1) If i remember correctly there is a bus from the airport direct. They get there around mid morning, does anyone know the number of the bus and time, cost
etc.

2) We did go by train to Sopot but can't remember the times and what platform etc to go from?

3) There were other places to visit on the train, but can't remember much about them, again any help would be great.

4) Lastly things to do in Gdansk for younger people.

Thanks!!

Hi!
Bus timetable: Click on PORT LOTNICZY (Gdansk Airport) in right column with the headline " ORUNIA GOSCINNA" and after that on the desired time.

Above-mentioned page: http://www.zkm.pl/eng/indexht.php?roz=b

The most interesting thing to do would be visiting the beautiful Old Town, walking around, visiting the churches, the shops, where they can get amber jewelry among other things. If there are any boat trips to Westerplatte they could take one as well. The local train goes every 10 minutes or so, so no need to check the timetable. They can take the train to Gdynia, see the port there, perhaps eat on the boat moored to the pier. There probably won't be any boat trips to Hel as the season hasn't started yet, but they could take the train to Hel and see the peninsula on the way (It will take at least half a day though as the trains are few at this time of year) Sopot is another must see with its pier, and excellent for young people as Monte Cassino St leading to it is famous for its clubs, restaurants etc. They could also visit the cathedral at Oliwa (along the train line) and listen to an organ concert there. There is a beautiful park surrounding it but it's not yet springtime so it may look a little grey.
