hi, I've looked at the map to see which roads you mean. Both come from Haarlem.
THe A206 looks 'greener'. For your information: Keukenhof=Lisse, the place you want to cycle to from Amsterdam. The distance Amsterdam-Lisse via Haarlem and Hillegom is about 35 kms. Here are some B&B's: http://forum.virtualtourist.com/discussion-402227- Camping information (most websites have English versions): Camping Sollasi - www.sollasi.nl - 0252 376436 - Noordwijkerhout Carlton Camping, De - www.campingcarlton.nl - 0252 370299 - Noordwijk Camping Club Soleil Bv - www.parcdusoleil.nl - 0252 374225 - Noordwijk Camping Duinpan De - www.campingdeduinpan.nl - 0252 371506 - Noordwijk Camping Wijde Blick De - www.bungalowparkdewijdeblick.nl - 0252 372246 - Noordwijkerhout I suggest you also visit the Tourist Office (VVV) in Amsterdam where they can advise you about cycling. They also sell cycling maps. Good bookstores will also have cycling maps for you. For instance Scheltema at Koningsplein.

Here's a typical cycle route with tulip bulb theme:
http://www.fietsen.123.nl/route%20tulip%20land%20t I know, it is in Dutch. But it has a little map and it starts in Lisse, round to Noordwijkerhout, in a circle.

I would recommend cycling via:
- Badhoevedorp - Hoofddorp - Bennebroek - Hillegom - Lisse The distance is between 30 and 35 km depending where you start and if you take a direct route or not. PJ

Hi,
I do not know if this makes any sense as I dont have a good paper map, but if I plan a bike-route using TomTom i get the following (From Amsterdam Overtoom to Lisse Center), with times to give you an indication. Maybe somebody with more sense of direction and a good map can say if this is OK :-) 00.05 S106 Overtoom 00.11 S106 Surinamestraat 00.12 S107 Haarlemmermeerstraat 00.14 Heemstedestraat 00.22 S107 Plesmanlaan 00.28 Nieuwemeerdijk 00.35 N520 Hoofdweg 00.53 N520 Hoofdweg 00.56 Burg Pabstlaan 00.59 Kruisweg 01.01 Van heuven Goedhartlaan 01.03 Kleine Belt 01.05 Ijweg 01.29 Lisserbroekerweg 01.34 Gladiolensraat 01.36 Zwanendreef 01.37 Lisse Cheers Dennis

And maybe some redundant tips:
The Dutch Touring Organisation ANWB has several routes marked with signs for tours by bike. You can get more information in their shops and following the link below. In practice, you just have to know where to start and follow the signs.. http://www.anwb.nl/vakantie/fietsen/routes/fietsdag.jsp A bike-route planner for Amsterdam: http://www.routecraft.com/rlfplannernl A routeplanner for bikes, that is not finished yet (planned end of 2009), but allegedly works in the Provinces Utrecht and Gelderland: http://www.fietsersbond.nl/fietsrouteplanner/ Dennis

Personally I would take a train to Leiden, rent a bike there and do the route I mentioned earlier. I can translate the important bits, if you let me know.
