Isla Róbinson Crusoe Getting there by ship
Posted: Wed March 12, 2008 09:15 PM UTC
Hi, guys!
I'm from São Paulo/Brasil

Is it possible to get to this Robinson Crusoe Island by ship or am I obliged to fly there?

If someone knows someone that can take me and 3 friends by boat to the island, I'd be thankfull. We r willing to pay for it.

Cheers!
Enjoy the world, good people!

Hi V for Veronica

Our man in Chile says there is a small supply vessel which sails out of Valparaíso that will get you there in three days but it can be rough and it isn’t a pleasure cruise.

It sails infrequently and you might have to wait around a month for a boat to take you back.

700km is quite long way in those waters but if the price is right no doubt you could charter a boat and crew to take you but it would be a rather expensive expedition.

You can fly there in around three hours (plus a boat trip of an hour from the airport).

Regards

Mark

One thing Mark does not mention is that priority is always given to the inhabitants so even if you could book, I am doubtful, you might get junked at the last minute. It really isn't a practical alternative even flying except in the summer can be very uncertain.

Indeed, boat isn't a serious option
