Tennessee Looking for some good help
Posted: Wed March 12, 2008 07:34 PM UTC
My girlfriend and I are trying to schedule a trip to the Eastern area of Tennessee. I started researching the Great Smoky Mountain area but to my dismay, there are no bike rentals available inside the park until early April, this is a conflict because my scheduled vacation is before April. A rental outside the park would be no good because our vehicle doesn't have a roof rack or a hitch for transporting the bikes into a park. Does anyone know a national park that would be exciting for mountain biking and have bike rentals before April 1st?

You can get a bike carrier that will just latch onto your rental car trunk. They cost about $50 at any sports store or target.

Here is a link, sorry its so long:

You might look at the following web link for biking information in the park: www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/biking.htm. It covers the park, and also lists several other nearby areas for cycling as well. You might check the Gatlinburg, or Townsend, Tennessee, or Cherokee, North Carolina yellow pages online to see if they might have listings for a bike rental shop that could also rent you a temporary carrier.
