And mine!
The Hotel Savoia is very welcoming, extremely clean, very central, and very reasonably-priced for the area. The breakfast is particularly good (especially the pancakes!). Recommeded. Look on www.venere.com for more reviews and to book, or to explore other Sorrento options; it's a reliable site with honest reviews from guests.

We stayed twice at:
Hotel Continental Phone (081 878 1476) Address: Piazza Viittoria 80067 It was way more reasonable. You are able to WALK to shops and restaurants. Breakfast is included in the price. The balcony has a spectacular view. Dee

Hotel Desiree (see my tip) is also a good choice. It's got a private beach (access by elevator), breakfast is included in the price, and it's about an eight-minute walk into the city center.

I'm always pushing the Il Nido, a family run hotel away from the noise and fumes of Sorrento. It's about a 15 minute shuttle ride away - shuttles run on the half hour all morning and evening. It was the most affordable I could find when on a budget trip a couple years ago - and spotlessly clean with free internet access. The restaurant was an added bonus to come "home" to after a long day seeing the sights - delicious, home-style cooking at affordable prices.
There is no pool but if you want a quiet "nest" with outstanding views of Mount Vesuvius this is a winner.
