I am planning on going to Ecuador sometime soon. I would like to know where any extremely unique hotels are. Prices are not a limit and neither is the location. Thanks!

I am still searching, but this is definitely going on my list. It sounds really cool for a place inside Quito. Thanks!

I stayed at the Tambopaxi lodge outside of Cotopaxi. Most magnificent views of a volcano you could imagine! And the staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the food was great.

You could stay at Hacienda Cusin located about 90 minutes from Quito. Built in the 17th century and artfully restored over the past decade, the walled estate is a haven of whitewashed buildings, 10 acres of perennial gardens and its own stables. Guest rooms are furnished with rustic antiques, colonial art and regional textiles, and most have fireplaces, which the staff comes in and lights each evening. And all against the dramatic backdrop of the Imbabura volcano.

You can hire a driver/take a taxi, or bus and set out for the nearby towns of Agato, San Antonio and Cotacachi for, respectively, textiles, woodcarvings and leather.

Otavalo, located 20 minutes away from Cusin, is the largest and most important indian market in the country, if not the continent, it draws visitors every day of the week, but Saturday's the biggie.

Hosteria La Cienega was a different kind of "wow." Built in the mid-1600s around a central courtyard, it had a much more formal feel than Cusin. It is furnished with velvet sofas, a piano, lavish flower arrangements and oil paintings of distinguished-looking people. But what a setting, with views of the spectacular Cotopaxi volcano. You can arrange to be driven to Cotopaxi National Park, with the 19,347-foot volcano at its heart. Cotopaxi is the highest active volcano in the world.

Hosteria La Cienega is located an hour and half from Quito.

The hotel provides the following tours:
Horse Riding
Bike Tours
Trekking
Lake Quilotoa
Yambo
Loz Illinizas (Hot Springs)
La Chilintosa
Pujili
Volcano Cotopaxi
