Me and a friend are planning to travel from zambia (preferably from lusaka but dont really mind where, we've got bags of time!) to south africa, either pretoria, j'burg or cape town.

We're trying to find the cheapest way possible as flights are pricey.

any suggestions would be splendid.

You can catch a bus from Lusaka to jo'burg, from the central bus station, near the city market. International

Alternatively if you are keen on making it into an adventure and using some of the time you have you could catch a bus down to Livingstone (about 8 hours). spend some time there see the falls. I guess Zimbabwe is off the cards atm, but you could enter Botswana or Namibia from here and make yourway south through them. Although bus travel is painfully slow, its cheap and practical.

Have you checked out www.zambianairays.com, they do quite good flights from Lusaka and Livingstone to Jo'burg.
