| Perth | flights to perth from uk Posted: Mon March 10, 2008 07:58 PM UTC
We are a family of five all on full fare planning to visit Perth over xmas. Any ideas on most economic tickets? Don't mind how long it takes us. Is it worth holding off buying for a while - will there be any specials over the coming months or are we being optimistic?

Personally, if I were flying between 17 December and 5 January, I would not wait. I would use a number of websites to check for best price available now and book it. It is highly unlikely if your desired dates fall within this time period that you will pick up a deal - this is peak flying time, especially between Australia and the UK.
Try www.expedia.co.uk www.airline-network.co.uk www.cheapflights.co.uk amongst others. Or your local equivalents.

I would book as early as possible. getting tickets into or out of Australia in that period can be difficult.

From what I have seen of my duaghter trying to get tickets to visit here at Christmas, it's THE worst time, ie, most expensive.
If you've decided it has to be at Christmas, book as early as you possibly can, the specials will be for early bookings. Some airlines will be cheaper than others, but remember that the extras you get on the flights that cost a little more (such as food you are used to and at any time you want it, good films, blankets and pillows etc) are far more important on such a long flight than they are on a short one.

Spoke to my daughter last night, she has been looking for tickets for the same period this year(from Paris, not UK, but they are usually about the same).
She says the prices at the moment are astronomical(about 4000 Euros), and believes that the bargains will come out about June, as airlines don't advertise much more than 6 months ahead.

Hi I am visiting Ireland in August and booked my air fare several months ago when the Australian Travel industry was promoting travel to Europe for the European summer. Some good specials, we are with Star Alliance and could get a fare from Perth to London 20th August Singapore Airlines but no return seat early October '08, we then booked with Thai Airways at a very good price. Have just flown Thai in Feb'08 Perth Bangkok, Bangkok Ho Chi Minh City with return Bangkok and a few days later Bangkok Perth. A very good airline.
We also got a good coach tour deal for Europe and early bird bonus 3 nights accommodation London, Hyde Park Ramada hotel. Check out the following airlines which service Perth. Emerites, Thai, British Airways, Singapore, Qantas, Air New Zealand. A good web page to subscribe to is www.Bestflights.com.au they have great prices on international and domestic flights. I live in Perth, Christmas will be good weather, you are welcome to view my pages, the train is now operating to Mandurah, so check this seaside town out for a day trip. Good Luck, Mike
