I have stayed at the Vendome Hotel in Nice, rated 3 stars, but the service and hotel were more like a 4 star hotel. Centered in town, I found is easy to get around. Walked to the beach, old town, train station, etc. Even rented a car, and there was parking on site. They are popular and could be fully booked in May. See their website: www.vendome-hotel-nice.com
