| Boston | Accommodation in Boston/Cambridge 23-25 June Posted: Mon March 10, 2008 10:12 AM UTC
My husband and I are hoping to stay in Boston/Cambridge for a couple of nights in late June as part of a fly-drive tour of New England. We are looking for a motel/hotel which is clean and hopefully less than 220 US$ per room per night. We would prefer to be able to park up our hire car and use public transport to get about the city as it stressful to drive in a city we don't know.
Can anyone recommend any accommodation/location. We wondered if any of the universities let rooms during the summer vacation? Any advice gratefully received. Thanks Sam from England |

You will probably find something around that price range as long as you are not looking for 4-5 star-rated hotels. There are affordable mid-range accommodations such as Best Western, Travelodge/Econolodge, etc. that will get you a nice, clean, and decent place around the Boston/Cambridge areas. Here's a weblink to start your hotel search process:
http://www.visit-massachusetts.com/current_categor As to the sublet situation for universities, I think that those are only allowed for individuals with university/school-related travel plans (e.g., if you are a visiting professor/fellow for the summer, etc.). You may want to inquire further about that option and clarify the requirements, but I heard it is pretty inexpensive! Goodluck and do enjoy your trip to beautiful & charming Boston!

Best Info - Stay in a B&B. Much more relaxed and comfy, home-like setting instead of typical hotel with high hotel prices... Two top sites to check, www.bnbboston.com and www.bedandbreakfast.com Both have great choices, 2nd site is larger with easy maps, better pics and greater variety. Prices range from $75+ per night, depends on location and amenities at each. I browsed through and saw at least 5 in both Boston and Cambridge reasonably priced w/ good locations.
Enjoy your time in our City of Boston! Don't forget a visit to the State House, Quincy Market, Freedom Trail and the Boston Public Gardens. (in the summer they have relaxing Swan boats) and check for the infamous Duck Tour amphibious land&sea bus tours, highly recommended.

Hi
A friend of mine who comes to the Boston area every summer stays at this B&B in Somerville's Davis Square: http://www.morrisonhousebnb.com/ She swears by it, and has alway been very happy staying there. It's a short walk to the Davis T-station, one stop on the train away from Harvard Square in Cambridge and just a few stops from downtown Boston. It's very reasonably priced, and breakfast is included. I'm not sure about parking, but you can email them and ask. Hope this helps!
