Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Como Transport Bergamo airport to Como Nord Lago
Posted: Sun March 9, 2008 12:11 PM UTC
Help! I've read all the forums and train timetables and am now totally confused. Which is the best way (apart from expensive taxi) to go from Bergamo airport to Como Nord Lago (our hotel is just near this station)? Also, any help on costs and times would be helpful. We intend to travel around on ferries and also use the local buses etc - can we buy some form of travel pass to last from Monday to Friday?

Many thanks.

I believe there is not a direct service but you can take the bus (just outside the airport) to Milan Stazione Centrale (main railways stations) and then by train, plenty of them to Como.

"You can't get there from here" ;-)

OK, seriously (?)...

As cgf says, there is frequent bus service from Bergamo's airport (Orio al Serio) to Milano Centrale, the main train station.

From here you have 2 choices:
1. Take a local Trenitalia train from Milano Centrale to Como San Giovanni. Trenitalia is the national railroad. Note that Como San Giovanni is the only Trenitalia station in Como; it's on the edge of the city center and is maybe a kilometer from Como Nord Lago. Most trains are regional (i.e. local), and take about an hour, but there are some premium trains that make the trip in 30-40 minutes - it depends on when you get to Milano Centrale (and how much you want to spend - faster is more expensive).
2. Take the subway over to Milan's Cadorna station, then take the Le Nord train (a private rail line) to Como Nord Lago. There are direct trains (taking about an hour) as well as connections through Saronno. See

So your choice is basically between taking the subway in Milan or taking a taxi from Como San Giovanni to your hotel...make sense?

I am intrigued as to why you feel you have to reach Lago Nord!

I have visited Como many times from Bergamo and as previous posters have indicated, the airport shuttle bus follwed br train to Como San Giovanni is the easiest way of getting to Como.

The stations are not all that far apart, however, if we were made aware where you are travelling onto, if indeed you are, we might be able to assist you further.

Billy
