Hi
We are on holiday in Cairo and have a few spare days 27th to the 30th Oct. fly out 31st and I was wondering if it is possible to take tour bus to ferry and travel on to Petra in one day 27th. and the same back on the 30th. or is the distance to great. We are a party of 5 adults.
We would like to fly to Amman but the budget will not allow it.
Many Thanks.

hey, you'll need to the following...>
ferry to aqaba
taxi from aqaba to Petra!
Petra back to aqaba
ferry to egypt

car rental is much better than TAXI

If you do ferry into Aqaba it is just a few hours drive to Petra - it is very safe and comfortable and not too expensive to take a taxi. That is how I traveled from Amman to Petra and later to Wadi Rum and eventually Aqaba. The taxi drivers are typically very friendly, knowledgable of the history/surroundings and eager to share it with those interested. You can stay at a hotel for reasonable rates directly up the road from the entrance to Petra (5 minute walk)

We have ferry tickets from Taba / Aqaba and then we take a taxi to Wadi Rum and a afternoon trip by 4x4 then on to Petra early evening for two days.Going back to Cairo we leave Aqaba late afternoon to Taba and stay overnight with a early start to St Catherines on the way back to Cairo.Souns great hope it all works out I will let you all know after the trip.
Thanks Dave.
