Do keep in mind that there is an additional fee on the ship for tipping. That will be about 15$ per person for a cruise from Luxor to Aswan or VV. Or 25$ for a trip from Luxor to Luxor.
While on board there will be a gallabeya party. It is a kind of dress up party where you will be asked to appear in an Egyptian costume and participate in some games. You might like them, but I don't. You can buy or hire the costumes on board the ship. Don't do that! If you like to participate buy your costume on the Luxor souk or somewhere ashore. It is more cheap. Everything you can buy on the ship is much more cheap getting it in a shop in the city. Just another request of me. In Edfu it is custom to go to the Tempel by carriage. I have found that a lot of the carriage drivers in Edfu are taking very bad care of their horses. They are skinny to the starving rate and covered with wounds. If you can: inspect the horse and refuse to take a carriage with a horse that is exploited untill it will starve.... If more tourists refuse a carriage with a horse that is not well looked after, more carriage drivers will be motivated to take good care of their animals. The carriage drivers will also plea hardly for tipping. Ignore them! They are paid a fair price!! Good luck, Dora.
