| Amman | Walking tour of Amman Posted: Sat March 8, 2008 09:16 PM UTC
I have been trying to find a walking tour of Amman - we have a free afternoon and I have always found a tour that walks around the city and shows your highlights...but I'm having trouble finding anything like that in Jordan. I see bus tours and other longer time trips. Can anyone help?

Hi there
a friend and I tried to find a walking tour in Aman with no luck. We ended up getting a great map from a large hotel (we told them we were lost and they gave us a great map for free) and we did our own tour. It was very easy to map out a tour from the old city, Roman theatre and the Citadel through the downtown market, mosques and souks and into the city centre. It was very easy walking and we made some great friends as two "old women" travelling together were a bit of a novelty. From memory our trip took about 4 hours and the highlight -the best meal of our trip at a back street working man's cafe (near the citadel)- food to die for.....Cheers, cafank
