| Moscow | Online train ticket Posted: Sat March 8, 2008 04:15 PM UTC
Hi! I found on the www.rzd.ru site an online ticket feature.
http://www.ticket.rzd.ru/wps/portal/pp Here i can buy ticket 45 days before starting the trip. If i understend the site, I can pick up the ticket in special ticket office on the railways. I have some questions about it: Is here anybody to bought ticket on the rzd.ru site? Is The special internet ticket "cassa" open all day? ( We arrived by airplane to Moscow at night then go with train to SPB about midnight. If the cassa closed at 19:00 how we pick up our ticket....) I found any tourist office which posted the ticket to me ( Budapest, Hungary) but each ticket delivery cost about 17 USD, and the train ticket also 17 USD ( platzkart)...... I found the website www.waytorussia.com but there some reviews was not good about "online" ticket service. Have You any idea about waytorussia? Have you any advice, and practical to buy realy cheap two way ticket from Moscow to Sankt Petersburg . |

1) You already arrived or plan to arrive?
Budapest itself is pretty good place to buy Russian tickets... but Slovakia is the best. 2) If you are in Budapest: I would spend 6 Euro, travel Budapest-Párkány (Sturovo) round-trip and buy the Moscow-St. Peterburg ticket in Sturovo. The price: 20.20 Euro. You can use ANY daytime train with it you want, even the fastest ones for 3 Euro extra. The night train is more: will cost ca. 20 Euro extra (I was lazy to look up my bed reservation spreadsheet). Otherwise: who goes BP-Moscow-St. Peterburg and does not use the Slovak CITY-STAR tickets is either too much in hurry or does not know: http://deals.virtualtourist.com/viewDeal-19733-906 In other words, for residents of Slovakia or Hungary the best ticket from Moscow to St. Pete is essentially FREE.

A CST jegy Szlovákián belül távolságfüggetlen, Oroszországban kétlépcsös.

Itthon 8000 Ft + helyjegy a Moszkva -Szentpéterbvár 1 úti jegy.

I am working on the very first and industry's only MPT ticket calculator, it's almost there on-line - you can see it in my Russian page. Once it's up and running: no more questions "how much".
The problem is, Western travelers do not know the REAL price. It is natural, you should know the price of the ticket and than how much the agency is making. The thougt behind the deal: calculate your ticket, know the price - than negotiate down with the agency. Besides if you tell them what you know - they will be surprised. Otherwise - look for my "world's longest ticket" deal. That involves Russia and it's cheaper than Russian tickets! But you can buy that deal in Serbia only. Hence the news: you want to go to Mongolia/China/Russian Far East? Good, but go to Serbia or Slovakia first! http://deals.virtualtourist.com/viewDeal-20750-121 http://deals.virtualtourist.com/viewDeal-20751-121
