| Jerusalem | Good hotel in/near the Old City in Jerusalem Posted: Fri March 7, 2008 06:14 PM UTC
I'm sure this has been asked many time before but there is a lot of information and filtering from VT members is very helpful.
Could anyone recommend a good hotel in Jerusalem in or near the Old City? By good, I mean in a good location for tourist, for 2 people with private bath, plenty of hot water. Nothing fancy. It should be clean and not expensive. I've been thinking about the Hashimi Hotel. Information about this and other hotels will be greatly appreciated. I will be in Jerusalem around March 31. |

It's not easy at all to find.
Try New Imperial, great location, Jaffa Gate: http://www.newimperial.com/hotel/ We made a reservation there for WM08 on September. Good Luck !

Thanks for the help. Is WM08 the VT meeting in Israel in September?
You profile said you live in Jerusalem, have you stayed at this hotel?

For everyone living in Israel. My sympathy of the recent events.

Thank you Mikey for the sympathies.
The New Imperial is great for backpackers. It is a basic hostel type hotel. Quite nice, but maybe not what you would call a 'good' hotel. For a better place you might want to check out the Jerusalem Tower hotel. Friends of mine stayed there. The rooms are small but it is clean and the location couldn't be better. http://www.inisrael.com/jth/jerusalem/index.html

Thanks, unaS. "Good" is a very subjected word. What is good to me may be bad to someone else.
I don't mind staying in a backpackers type of place as long as it is relatively clean and has a double room with a private bath, good location, and is relatively safe. I also like these types of places because it is easier to meet people. I'm glad you included a web link so I could see the price.

Great. From your more detailed explanation then yes, the New Imperial should suit you just fine. I visited it in prep for the WM08. Found it to be suitable for those criteria.
