| Colombo | day rooms at Colombo airport? Posted: Fri March 7, 2008 04:02 PM UTC
Heard that Colombo airport has completed renovation and fully functional with new and better facilities. Are there any Day rooms where we can have some sleep fro about 3-4 hrs and a shower and then go to city centre before we take an evenIg flight from Colombo?
If no Day rooms, what are your sugegstions or alternatives so that we can have have a room for some sleep and a shower? |

If you haven't been to CMB for a while, you won't recognise the place, it's light and clean, with some good shops (some of the staff even appear to have been trained) I used to say that Bandaranaike is where the Sri Lanka's stored all their nasty people but it's changed a little these days.
There are several day rooms, I have never been at the airport long enough to need one but the guy I sat next to on the way out in January did, he said they were good (and he had a free ayurveda massage throw in) I think it's around $50 for the rooms which takes two people max If you are going out you will get a more comfortable room in a hotel for the same price, there's no hotel at the airport (yet) even the Airport Garden Hotel is several miles away (to be honest I'd take the day room) there are a few decent hotels about but whether it's worth it for 3-4 hours is debatable. The old by law which made it illegal for airport staff to smile at work appears to have been relaxed a little and yes, there are several nice clean day rooms which accomodate a maximum of two people for $50 a shot. You could get cheaper and nicer outside, there is no hotel (yet?) at the airport but it wont be long. The Hotel Garden is a few bumpy miles away but it's weird to be honest you're better in the room. Is it worth getting a hotel outside for 3-4 hours, it's border line but probably not. Regards Mark
