| Maui | Biking Downhill on Haleaka Posted: Fri March 7, 2008 04:00 PM UTC
Has anyone had any experience of the companies that offer downhill bike rides on Haleaka?
Were going to Maui in May and would like to try it. Ideally we would rather cycle on our own as opposed to in a group and also take time to explore the craters at the top before our descent. Does anyone know of a company that would allow us to do this, we are not too bothered about getting there for sunrise. Thanks |

Try this link for one company that will allow you to bike down individually and at your own pace.
http://www.bikemaui.com/ Exploring the cinder cones is not an easy task and a bit of a challenge but worth it. One company offers horse rides to portions of the floor of Haleakala otherwise it is quite difficult to walk along the Sliding Sands trail especially walking back and up again. It’s like walking on beach sand except uphill. Recommended hiking trails are in the 2 to 5 mile range. It’s a great idea you have, you’ll remember it forever.
