The travel will be fairly simple if you fly to Schiphol Airport Amsterdam. From there you can take a direct Intercity train to Arnhem.

The actual Airborne walk, that I walked several times when I was a teenager, is not in Arnhem but in nearby Oosterbeek.
So from Arnhem, take the 5 minute train ride to Oosterbeek. There's a farm camping in Doorwerth (3 kms from Oosterbeek): http://www.vvvoosterbeek.nl/index.php?mod=show_det and two more campings here in Oosterbeek itself: http://www.vvvoosterbeek.nl/index.php?mod=show_lis (NOTE: If you need help translating, let me know!) Camping aan de Veluwe is the one I suggest: it's a 9 minute walk from Oosterbeek train station and also walkable into the village of Oosterbeek. Here's everything you need to know about the Airborne March (in English): http://www.airbornewandeltocht.nl/en/ Be sure to make your accommodation reservations well in advance of 6 September 2008.

Hi there, from a Airborne March "veteran" (next September my 26th time). Turn to the webpage of the "Airborne wandeltocht association" for help. They organise various places where you can stay for the march on football and other sport fields etc.: http://www.airbornewandeltocht.nl/en/
In emergency cases (when you cannot find any place to stay) you might contact me in the days that lead to the first Saturday in September. I will do my best to get you shelter and make it possible to walk this comemorating march. Greetings, Paul

Hi Anke-Thea,
Well, I've got enough secret hiding places here and will be walking myself as well ... so ... (-: By the way, Ilja (my six year old son), will be walking the Airborne March together with me and this year for the SIXTH time. It's a lovely father-son tradition and he loves it as well as I do. Even with the same strong emotions. Greets from the East to you in the West, Paul
