It's right by the Atomium and, if you count this as an attraction, Mini-Europe. From the nearby metro station Heysel you can easily get into the centre of Brussels (De Brouckère/Gare centrale).
Next to Heysel metro station you will find a tram station, and if you take tram 23 (direction Gare du Midi), the 3rd stop is called Pavillon Chinois: here you will find the Chinese Pavilion, Japanese Tower (currently undergoing restauration) and a small oriental art museum. The 23 is a great line, it goes about 3/4 of the way around the city to the Gare du Midi (or change at Montgomery onto the metro back to Heysel). You can also take the 81 to Mérode for the Cinquantenaire archway, park and museums; you can get to the top of the archway via the (free) military museum, follow signs to the Panorama. Here also, you can get back to Heysel on the metro from Mérode (or Schuman, at the other end of the park, where the EU buildings are).

The reply above gives you some good ideas already. And indeed no need to worry about distance in Brussels, everything is quite close; from where you work to the centre of the city by metro takes you only about 10 or 15 minutes. So just try to get an idea of whatever you want to visit here, and it won't be a problem to reach it.

There's also a big movie theatre (Kinepolis) in the area where you work, right next to the national sports stadium (Koning-Boudewijnstadion).

Brecht

Hi Leanne

I guess you are working in Brussels for some time. Would appreciate you emailing me the "must see" sights sometime as we will be in Brussels for 5 days the first week of September.
Regards
Mike ( Perth)
