How is the weather in End May/Early June?
Is there any decent hotel inor near city center with rate of
approximately US$60-70 per night double room?

The weather at that time last year was approx 25C. However, as this winter has been really strange it could reach even higher at that time. I recommend checking www.meteo.hr before arrival as they have weather forecast(as accurate as forecasting can be!!!) for the whole country. The hotels in Zagreb, especially in the centre are expensive (far too expensive) but you can check Hotel Laguna (prices from 39Euro), Hotel International (renovated, prices from 70Euro), Hotel Fala (a small family run hotel, price approx 35 pppn). depending on the lenght of your stay in Zagreb you can also rent an apartment, which is better value for money. www.nest.hr or www.inzagreb.com. For private rental, which can be cheaper and as comfortable, check www.peaks.info. If you find something you like but have questions about the "real" distance of these apartments from the centre don't hesitate to ask.

Gundulićeva is in the centre, great location, 10min walk from the main train station and centre as well. Very close to a beautiful Zrinjevac park. I haven't heard about those apartments but I can check with my friends. I'll post you an answer when I get it.
