Hi. I'm travelling to Shanghai next month and plan to go to Macau and then Hongkong. Can someone share what's the most cost-effective way of going from Shanghai to Macau?

Thanks.

Fly Shanghai -- Guangzhou with Spring Airlines (http://www.china-sss.com).
Bus Guangzhou -- Zhuhai Gongbei, and walk across the border to Macau.

If you want to visit both HongKong and Marcou, you had better fly to GuangZhou ,and than go to ShengZhen by train. It's just 45 minutes on the rail. So you can cross the border to HongKong. This is the cheaper way for traveler. You can take a boat from HongKong to Marcou, it just need 30 minutes. Enjoy you trip.

Macau airlines often has so agressive pricing on flights. I would fly to Macau direct and then take the high speed ferry to Hongkong. It may be a little cheaper to Shenzhen or GZ, but who wants to ride a bus in South China and spend half your say looking for the bus station, waiting for the bus and driving. You won't any save money and just aggrivate yourself.

Please be aware that going to Macau or HK is considered leaving Mainland China. Most nationalities will need a new visa or a multiple entry visa for China should they wish to return to Mainland China after entering Macau or HK.
