| Leh | Leh in winter Posted: Fri March 7, 2008 04:09 AM UTC
Hi, i am in India in november and december and want to visit Leh as well. I heard it is cold and there is no heating as well. What weather can i expect, is hiking possible, or is everything just under snow. What clothes should i bring?

The only route open at the time is by air. However, many hotels have heating and Leh itself is a large town and locals do live there.
You have to come very well prepared for extreme temperatures and weather conditions, plus also allow a few days in the beginning to get acclimatised to the altitude. Trekking times can change depending on whether there is snow or not, and how much. You would need a proper guide for that. A useful sight maybe http://www.project-himalaya.com/jladakhtrek-chadar-winter.html
