Posted: Thu March 6, 2008 11:31 PM UTC
Dear All

I've plan to go to KL, in my first plan I'll go from Singapore at 11.00 pm to JB, my questions are :
1. Are there still bus operation to go to JB at 11.00 pm ?
2. Is it safe in Larkin terminal at midnight ?

Thanx & regards

1. Yes. There are still buses going into JB at this hour.

2. JB is not safe after 10pm. So that means Larkin isn't safe either.

Why don't you put up in Singapore and hop over to malaysia tomorrow morning.

I have been to Larkin several times from Singapore during daytime. There will always be several free lance agents with walkie talkie approaching you the minute you get there on where you are going and trying to get you to take the bus company they get a commission. They will lead you to their bus counters.

I always ignore them and prefer to get my tickets directly from the counters of my choice. There is a McDonald at Larkin there which I can "escape" to.

I have also taken night express buses directly from Singapore to Malaysia. They are more convenient but have to pay much more.

JB has its share of city crime but I disagree with the comment that it is unsafe after 10pm. There are overnight buses that depart from Larkin to destinations like Butterworth but JB-KL is less than 4 hours.

Come on guy .... what a comments. Safer or not, depends on which area you seat. Agree with McD, stay there and sometimes you can chat with policeman there. There are bus service to KL at midnight (last bus 1am).
you Q: no 1: I think this about to go to KL, instead of JB; yeah ... last bus 1am ... same as my fren comments, ignore the guys, go direct to counter.
2nd..once again I agree but this is your plan .. why dont you take a bus direct from Spore to KL???? because if you plan to leave from Spore ard 11pm, i'm afraid you will not get a last bus from JB to KL... also consider the heavy transport at Custom and causeway ... i was working in Spore before, and I take several hours to pass the custom/imigration at midnight (night shift finished).

Hi all,

I also have the same itinerary as Adzanis - the author of this post. One difference is that i'll come over Johor at abt 3PM and take the 10PM bus to KL. So i have 6hrs free at Larkin. Could you please share with me some places to go in this free time? The bus rout? and off course near Larkin.:-)

Thak you,
Dirong

Larkin is just a bus terminal less than 30 minutes outside JB downtown with two storey terminal of bus ticket counters, eating and shopping small stalls including McDonald. Nothing much to do except to get bus ticket and wait for bus for departure.

There are frequent bus services from downtown JB to Larkin. I would spend time at JB downtown. City Square is a major shopping complex. You can catch the bus to Larkin from the bus stop opposite City Square.
