We've never been to Hawaii - has anyone ever stayed at the Menehune Shores Beach Front Condos in Maui? They were recommended by a coworker - we'd like to have another opinion. Are they really on the beach? Any other 2-3 bedroom Condo's in the same price range that might be better? ($250 a night for 3 bedrooms 2 baths, and full kitchen)

What a lovely little Hotel this is. Maui Oceanfront in Kihei has been recently taken over by Best Western. This is a series of small quads leading from the street to the Ocean front. There are actully only 2 Oceanfront suites. Some of the other rooms/ suites have ocean views. You could add a room to the suite, I believe it was your choice of 1 or 2 bedrooms with a cozy sitting room. This was such a perfect location for us as we value privacy and the sound of the water. Neither of these were overtaken by tourists at this little gem.

DS#1 and his entourage stayed in a three bedroom on the third floor (311 I believe), this past October. The unit was VERY nice. It had been recently updated with granite counters and tile floors and had GREAT views.

DW and I always stay just up the beach at the Luana Kai, as we did this past October. By comparison, the LK is quieter, less windy, has a better pool area and the grounds are better overall (the entire group spent every evening at the LK by the pool). The LK is also about 30% cheaper.

The individual unit at Menehune Shores was superior to the one we had at the LK, but that was the ONLY thing we liked better.

As we tyupically spend very little time in our unit, the entire group (7 adults all together) all agreed that next trip we would ALL stay at the Luana Kai.
