| Estado de Yucatán | Need help for Uxmal, Chichen Itza, and Valladolid tour Posted: Thu March 6, 2008 12:47 AM UTC
1. Is bus service available between Merida and Uxmal? Is 1-day tour to Uxmal from Merida enough?
2. Any bus from Valladolid to Cancun? 3. How about safety of above areas comparing to Mexico city? Thank you for your answers. |

1) yes there is a regular bus service to uxmal. commonly you can take the Ruta Puuc bus which will take you to 5 other Puuc ruins, spending about 30 minutes in each, and then to uxmal giving you about 2 hours there. personally i consider this to be far too little time in any of the spots but i am a complete mayan ruins buff. but if you have 1 day, i would get off at uxmal and stay the whole day there. it would be a long one. alternatively there are tours which may allow you to go to the Uxmal light show which is pretty stupid but it gives you the opportunity to see the stunning sunset over the ruins which is worth it.
2) plenty of buses from valladolid to cancun 3) the above areas generally are far safer than mexico city as a whole

There are a couple of articles in Yucatan Today which might put your mind at ease:
1) on transportation: http://www.yucatantoday.com/eng-transportation.htm ; and, 2) on safety: http://www.yucatantoday.com/culture/eng-asktheusco
