Manila day trips suggestions
Posted: Wed March 5, 2008 11:41 PM UTC
hi!
i'm back home for a business trip until march 21. i'll be free this weekend (mar 8-9) but don't know where to go for a day trip. would appreciate your suggestions. i'm a lone traveler and has a bad sense of direction, so i'd love to hear tips about relatively safe places to go and are easy to find.

i think it would depend on what you want to do.
but if it would be only for a day, for me shopping is the best bet.
or trip to tagaytay..

I haven't been there in a while. But I like cities, So I would suggest Makati (Greenbelt and such), or any where the Ortigas area. :)

As suggested above, Tagaytay is ideal for either day trip or overnight. You may also want to consider Corregidor. Catch the early morning ferry at Harbor Center, CCP Complex. Or spend the day at the Mall of Asia for shopping, cinema, museum, and other activities.

Are you already in Manila? There's a VT meet tomorrow (March 7) at Dencio's Glorietta, 7-7:30pm, you're welcome to join us.

If you like history the Corregidor Light and Sound show is pretty good. You have to take a ferry over from the pier off Roxas. Well, that's the place I left from.

Like the other post said, you can visit the new Mall of Asia, it's huge, got a lot of stuff but I like the Robinson Mall in Ermita better.

Good luck.

too many things to see in two days even without going out of the metropolis!

tell us what you prefer to do/see/experience and there will surely be a lot of options!

as for me... if plans don't get drastically revised by the clouds and the rains (as they usually are nowadays) this weekend, am scheduled to see/experience a "sabong", a "binyag", and a "sakla"

good luck!

We are planning a trek to Pinatubo on March 15... maybe you could consider joining us. The meeting tonight, aside from welcoming a visiting VTer, will also be a venue to discuss the trek plans.

Don't miss Cottage Kitchen - they serve very good ribs and reasonably priced too! It's outside Clark Airbase. Try if this number is still working - +639196313624. Contact Person: Jim - owner.

Enjoy!

Hi Lila. You can take a short bus trip to Subic bay for some sun and sea and some forest and maybe see Zoobic, too. The Pinatubo trek is also highly recommended but more fun as a group :-) Pampanga is mainly a culinary spot, but there are small theme parks here and there.

Hi San! i believe Cottage Kitchen has changed management, yes, i met the very friendly owner Jim, too :-)

Oh shucks! Really? :(
I haven't been there in a while but am planning to bring my family there when we come back from KL. Is the food still great though? Are they still close on Mondays?

Sorry Yla...just like to clarify: are they still close on Mondays? Coz we're arriving from KL on a Monday and would certainly like to bring my family there for lunch, if they're open. Thanks.

when in pampanga, you can try the unforgetable Herbs and Greens (salads and steaks) at Telebastagan in San Fernando Pampanga. Or my favorite diner Bretto's a few meters from Cottage Kitchen. Or Salvatore's (pizza, pasta) along Fields Ave. Sub-delicious (all good subs) is also a favorite, just a few steps from Salvatore's. ... lots to try here in Angeles City :-)

Oh yeah, Salvatores! I've tried it before and really really good pizza! :)
But my dad is a steak person so they'll probably enjoy Herbs and Greens more. Would you know how we can get there from the airport? How much is your average spending? Do you have their contact number? Thanks much Yla!

Herbs and Greens is located along McArthur hway near the boundary of San Fernando and Pampanga in the district called Telebastagan. Try to locate the subdivision named Hacienda Royale. H&G is right beside it. Call them at 0921 4374891. They serve dinners until 10PM and special occasions.

They serve a wide selection and varieties of salads from their garden, steaks, pastas, and unique appetizers that are a meal in itself.
