Can anyone please tell me the closest airport to Avignon and how easy it is to travel to the city from there ( very new traveller )

Avignon airport is about 8 km s-e from town at Montfavet. There doesn't seem to be any buses or shuttles to town and taxi prices are given at "about" 15 - 25 euros.

Avignon airport is very small. It is possible/probable that you will need to fly into a larger international one, in which case the nearest is Marseilles Provence about 80km away.

From Marseilles centre you can get a train to Avignon. www.sncf.co.uk for train times/fares

http://www.mrsairport.com/eng/acces/acces_bus.jsp#mars for buses from the airport.
