Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew how many times i can renew my visa once my initial 6 months is up ??? Can i just goto nepal or sri lanka, and renew my visa for another 6 months ? , and then do it again and again and again ???? are there people that do this ??? I am a U.S. citizen, ( if that matters ) thank you for your answers.... |

Hello there.yes you can keep on renewing your visa as often as you like.
i used to live in south india(until 2 years ago) and so would go over to sri lanka every so often,i probably did it about 5 times.there were others that had been doing it for over ten years. apparantly doing a visa in sri lanka is more straight foward than in nepal, people tended to have problems there.the process takes about a week to 10 days as far as i know being american makes no difference. bye bye

There are two aspects to this problem. First is the Visa. You should apply for & get a 10 year or 5 year multiple entry visa (from Indian Consulate or Embassy from any country outside India), and not a 6 month Visa. Thereafter as a foreigner you will be allowed to stay only for a maximum of 180 days at a stretch, whenever you enter India. You may have to go then to a neighboring country for a few days and re-enter India for another 180 days.
