| Isla de Tenerife | Finding a place to ... RELAX ? Posted: Tue March 4, 2008 10:54 AM UTC
We - a couple (50/60's) have planned to spend 2 weeks in Teneriffe starting the first week in april 2008.
Never been there, we looked at the area of "Las Americas" but after reading reviews in Travel-forum it sounds like a hang-out for younger people who enjoy loud discos and other all-night activity until breakfast time, making sleeping a nightmare to others. We are far from even feeling like "seniors", but at the least like to enjoy a somewhat quiet time to get sleep. If there are places worth checking out that fill the need for clean accomodations, decent food and still offer a variety of things to do other than just (often overprized) tourist traps, please let us know as brochures can be most misleading with true info. This being our first time to that area, we are not sure if any of the other islands would be more suitable. Just spent a night here in the Algarve in what looked like a phantastic place on the website, but was most disappointing. How bad is the situation at the begin of april in regards to Mosquitos and / or other critters? Please steer us away from any place where "Attractions" means Disco bars or screaming kids around the pool. This VT'er here would love and REALLY appreciate to hear about it. Cheers, Norbert |

We stayed in a self catering apartment near Vilaflor in the foothills of Mount Teide - far away from the madding crowd though not too far away to get out and enjoy all the island has to offer.
If you are more interested in an hotel holiday you might find something suitable from one of these Links. It should be lovely there in April.

Dear Norbert ,
We are a couple of (older) 60ers and are every year during april, may, june and october in Los Cristianos. It is a lot quiter than L.A. but still touristic. You can walk easyly alongside the beachwalk. Los Cristianos was allready an excisting village before tourism came to disturb every thing. As an older village we have fruit and veg shops , bakery , small typicaly restaurants and much more that nolicy tourist doesn't like to much !! I am botanist and so I am every two days in the mountains and as we

Hi,
There's Adeje, a town bordering Los Cristianos, but just a bit more quit and still on the oceanfront. You could go even more off the beaten path to Los Gigantes or El Paradiso. Personally I love Los Gigantes, it's a lot more spanish than the cities more to the south and the scenery is amazing. Tenerife is an amazing island, you should really go there (see my pages). Mosquito's are not a big problem as there is not much fresh water on the island. Have fun!

Thank you all for your helpful info.
Found a place - "Paloma Beach" ... http://www.palomabeach.com/ ... - in Los Christianos. They are Self Catering apartments which we like to book due to many good write-ups. If anyone has used them before, would like to hear about. Thank you, Norbert .

Paloma Beach , is very wel , it is on the extreme end of the beachwalk of Los Cristianos behind the Hotel Gran Arona (4*+) . In the surrounding you have all kind of shops for buing food and drinks. At the evening you have several bars who have there own divertisement (music live, karaoke, english football on big TV, etc....) also you can go to the bar of the hotel Gran Arona. At about 22h they have allways a show , and every day it is different and drinks are not more expensive than in a normal bar.
We will be there as from april 1st untill june 5th , so if interested you could call me with local telephone. Send me a personal message and I will give you my tf number of Tenerife. Greetings, Albert
