Hi,
Is is safe to go hiking in Nikko national park by myself. Are there usually a lot of people around? Is it possible or better to book an organised hiking group in the town? Thanks Josilver |

I went there by myself a couple of years ago. I took an easy trail walking down from the hot spring resort area of Yumoto to Lake Chuzenji (I can't remember the name correctly). Passed by many Japanese hikers along the way, and I felt very safe. This particular trail is very easy to walk, and the scenery is quite beautiful. I suggest you spend a few days there, and get a 4-day pass from Tobu. So that you can hop on and off the bus anywhere along the way if you are tired.
