Ecuador Travel Forum

I have studied Spanish last 6 weeks in Argentina, Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador and I have noticed that Ecuador (Quito particullary) is the best place. They have an easy accent. Now, I'm learning at Ecole Idiomas, it's a very good school and the best thing is that you can feel the culture from inside.
I'm going to Colombia next week, does someone know about the diplomatic problemm between Ecuador and Colombia?

I am brazilian and I think Spanish is the same elsewhere. It's obvious there are some words that sound different , or, whose meaning is not exactly the same, but brazilians feel cumbersome in understanding the south american spaniards near our border.
Colombia fight toxic and FARC nowadays. Some days ago the Colombia's army killed a
famous FARC guerilla leader inside Ecuador land. Now they threaten each other on war. Here below you'll find a explained BBC piece of news at link:

Thanks for the tip, can you post links to these schools, esp Ecuador and Bolivia as I'll be heading that way soon and would like to do more classes.

Regarding the diplomatic problem between Ecuador and Columbia ... you already have a link to what's happening recently. However, tension started growing along the northern border of Ecuador some years back. The Ecuadorians are a peacable people, and they say they are concerned that the Columbians are moving into their territory and bringing in crime, drugs, etc...
For this we were warned by friends living in the area to seek out living in an area at least an hour south of the Columbian/Ecuador border.
As far as schools, Quito is flooded with schools that teach Spanish ...
have you considered posting an ad and asking for a private tutor? I'm sure you would have many responses.
