I need an advice what's the most appropriate way to get to Noordwijk aan Zee from Amsterdam? How long will it take me to get there? Regards and thanks. |

hi there,
for any public transportation you can use www.9292ov.nl You need a translation which I provide here: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/tp/1aa687/ Now for your actual question, I would like to know: address in Noordwijk (or name of hotel or wherever you are going) and which station in Amsterdam. Is that Amsterdam Centraal or is it Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport)? A general reply is: You will always go with the train to Leiden Centraal. Amsterdam Centraal-Leiden is a 33-40 minute train ride, costs € 7.90 Schiphol-Leiden is a 17-20 minute train ride, costs € 5,20 From Leiden you take a bus to Noordwijk aan Zee, Vuurtorenplein (cental point). That's a 27-37 bus ride, costing € 2,30 (that's 5 strips on the 'strippenkaart', see my Netherlands transportation tips). There are various busses per hour from Leiden to Noordwijk aan Zee. The bus in Leiden leaves from the northside of the station, LUMC (medical center), take bus 42 or 240 direction Noordwijk OR The bus in Leiden leaves from the station to Transferium A44 (take bus 32 direction Katwijk) and switch at Transferium A44 to the Interliner bus 95 to Noordwijk As said, you can use 9292ov.nl for your exact schedules. Good luck!

hi there,
in that case, go to www.9292ov.nl, put in Hoofdstraat 49-51 as your destination address and Leiden treinstation as your departure. All the above information applies, including the translation of www.9292ov.nl Depending on which bus connection you choose from Leiden station, you end up in Noordwijk aan Zee on different locations. From any of those locations it's a 3-8 minute walk to Hoogstraat. For very exact maps, use www.viamichelin.com

you're welcome!
Don't forget to explore Leiden. It's a lovely old town. Rembrandt was born there :-)

Yes, I plan to spend a day there :)
Unfortunately the weather forecast is frustrating but I'll take a golf umbrella :)

We have wonderful "Maartse buien"; white hail showers against a blue sunny sky.

Really!?
It sounds brilliant for me :) By the way, probably there are some other beautiful small towns not far from Amsterdam (say max 40 minutes by train one way) to visit? I'm coming for a conference and will be quite tight with my schedule. So If you give me a piece of advice it will be nice! Regards, MOA

Have a look at our pages. Particularly provinces Noord-Holland and Zuid-Holland.
PJ has just been to Delft. I live quite near. My quaint hometown Brielle is a bit far for you. Near Amsterdam, I also recommend Alkmaar and Haarlem. But with nearby Leiden, I think you will have plenty of that Dutch quaint town atmosphere. I believe my Leiden page would interest you. I lived there twice.

I've never learned Dutch unfortunately as it's not quite common as English or French, but I used to work for ABN AMRO for about 4 years.
So, all I know is how to say :) But not how to write... LOL

Well, as ABN AMRO is a thing of the past now, it's best to learn Scottish and Flemish. LOL

Irish Gaellic will do :)
You will never be understood and this will make you feel superior to anyone:) The question is whether you are not being understood because at the end of learning of the first 20 phrases you are about 89 and just mumbling or your teacher was Whales native but wanted job very much :) If serious (lol again) Albaneese sounds quite interesting and promising BIG LOL EVER
