We did a similar thing last June. I would recommend going to Sandakan, seeing the Orangutans at the Sepilok Orangutan Centre. We did a cruise and stay overnight up the Lower Kinabatangan River. WE saw Proboscis monkey, Macaque Monkeys, and a Orangutan hanging around in the jungle. In the late afternoon, you do another cruise up the quiet Menanggul River and see more wildlife. Other people we spoke to, the day before us saw a herd of wild elephants at the rivers edge, they showed us their photos. Where you stop for morning tea, they have a list of sightings at the lodge, one of them 5 days before we arrived, was a clouded leopard, so you never know what you might see. Have a look at my Borneo page.

The weather in Borneo when we were there in June, was warm to hot, and fine most of the time. The couple of times it rained, was during the night, and it teemed.
Between the cities, we flew with air asia. They were very cheap, check their website for deals. Just type in air asia in google. AS there are no seat allocations, when it comes to boarding, get a spot near the front of the queue, then you will be able to get a window seat. Flying from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan is beautiful, you see all the islands off KK, and the coral cays. The Cultural village at sarawak is excellent, very well done. You see all their tribal houses etc, and then enjoy a most beautiful cultural dance show. Hope this helps you.

which portion of borneo you plan to visit? north borneo is now known as sabah, and together with sarawak make up east malaysia. brunei is sandwiched in-between sarawak, n the biggest portion is kalimantan, indonesian borneo.
with 10 days in hand, you can of course cover almost all of borneo's main attractions.
