I am curious to know if any recent travelers have made the 'trek' to phnom kulen and how did you get there? Would this take a full day from Siem Reap? Any photos would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,

I went to Phnom Kulen at end of April 2007. I was in a group formed by myself and had travelled using the logistics of ******** travel from Hanoi. We had left Siem Reap early in the morning and went to Banteay Srei first then to Phnom Kulen. First visiting the site of "Mille Lingas" after we went to the purifying waterfall where there are plenty of places for lunch, then went off to the mount to climb up to see the "reclining Buddha". So in itself it doesn't take a full day but Banteay Srei is well worth it. You can find my tips and photos of Phnom Kulen on my Cambodia then----> Kett Siem Reap pages. If you need anything else don't hesitate.

I went to Phnom Kulen last week. It was great! It's a hidden place in the jungle with small temples, 30m waterfall and a buddha statue made out of the top of a rock. This place is much more interesting than Kobal Spien (also waterfall. I hired a motocycle for 28$/day and we also stopped at Banteay Srei, Banteay Samre and Landmine Museum. The trip was quite exhausting because of the unpaved roads. It's a full day trip. Don't go there during the weekend, because it's very popular to Cambodians too. They will make big barbecues then and the place will be crowded. Don't leave beaten tracks, there are still land mines in that aera.
