Hello. We party of 4 are looking to see if anyone out there is traveling from Rome FCO airport to civitavecchia on May 11 2008 for a Costa Concordia cruise and would like to share a shuttle . We will arrive at Rome FCO airport around 8: 00 am and do not want to wait 5 hours there for a shuttle offfered by Costa leaving at 1: 00 pm.

The transfer shuttle runs about 150-165 Euro one way for 1 - 4 people ( tip is not included yet), 6 people total runs about 180- 200 Euro.
For your case , probably easier you just buy the transfer bus ticket from the cruise line direct or from travel agent and you only wait there less than 2 hours for the bus. Costa only charge around $40/person one way , very fair price. ( but other cruise line may charge you a fortune like Celebrity ..)
Taking train is also very straightforward and cheap following some forum topic from related link here..........( we did last time )

Hi, We are arriving in Rome a couple of days ahead but we are booked on the Concordia departing on May 11th. I am wondering how you are returning from Civitavecchia to FCO on May 18th.

My husband and I would be pleased to share a shuttle back to FCO. We have a 12:05 flight back to Boston.

Please let me know if this will work!

Unfortunately we are going to stay one more day in Rome after 5/18 so we are not going to FCO after disembarking. Have you tried to use Costa's own shuttle bus service? They are only charge you around $40/person and you can get off earlier like 8: 00 am to make to FCO at around 10: 00 am. ( it will take about 75- 90 min). Give them a call at 1-877-88-COSTA or call your travel agent, I believe they are more reliable than private shuttle....

Ciao! Thank you for your prompt response. According to our travel agent Costa refused to take us because it would be cutting it too close. I may try calling them directly.

Within these forums I have read about a reliable shuttle and according to some sources it only takes 25-30 minutes to get to FCO (and having driven in an Italian taxi, I can believe it)!

We did some quick research from these forums and booked with Stefano at www.romecabs.com for 150 euro one way ( tip is not included) , just for your reference. ( We took the bus from Celebrity last year and it did take about 70 min with very organized operation...)...

Hi Carl, Upon your advice I contacted Costa directly and spoke with an agent who told us we were "eligible" for the shuttle since our plane left at 12:05. I then called our travel agent who investigated again and we are now booked on the shuttle. Thank you! Marilyn

That was a great news!
Since we do not have good experience with Costa's luggage handling in the past, probably you can start thinking of carrying all of them with you to the bus direct !!!
Me and my brother are taking my old folks on this trip , see you on the cruise!
