| Tilburg | Abbey Koningshoeven Posted: Sat March 1, 2008 08:24 PM UTC
Hello, friends and I are coming to the Netherlands in 10 days and just learned that our favorite beer in the world is made near Tilburg, the quad of course. I have learned to get to Tilburg but not sure how often the bus runs to the abbey. We will be coming from amsterdam by train to Tilburg arriving around 1:00 pm. Any help on bus or taxi information will be great. Thanks.Harley

From the Tilburg Central train station take Veolia bus #141 (direction Eindhoven) at 1.38PM.
Exit at the Trappistenklooster busstop (travel time ~20 minutes). From the busstop it's a 7 minutes walk. Costs: 3 strips of a Strippenkaart; more info see: http://www.vbn-bv.nl/ovinfo/algemeen_en.asp?vPaginaID=204 The bus runs about 1 per 1.5 hours (not that many!). PJ

hi there. About your visit: be sure to phone or email the abbey before you visit. I've put contact information below.
What the English version of their website doesn't say (but the Dutch version does) is that they are building on-site. That means that until 4th of May the 'Proeflokaal' (bar) and tours of the brewery are only available for groups of 20 AFTER reservation. It is possible to join another group so that the total makes up 20 persons, but that also means that you may not be able to visit whenever you want. Only after 4th of May there will be daily tours. Tel. 013-5722650 E-mail proeflokaal@latrappe.nl The man in charge is Mr. Toon Gloudemans
