www.alpinecab.com or if you are hiring a car www.viamichelin.com will provide the answers. Enjoy, Darren.

To research your options better, go to the Grenoble Airport website,

http://www.grenoble-airport.com/rubrique.php3?id_rubrique=88

There appear to be many buses to ski resorts, but I couldn't find any to Chamonix. Perhaps follow a couple of the links and see what's available.

I did a quick search on Deutsche Bahn's online timetable (editorial comment: the SNCF website is pretty but useless, even for those who read French!), and found your two best train connections from Grenoble train station to Chamonix depart at 15:25 and 16:25, with changes in Annecy and St Gervais-Les Bains. Travel time is a bit less than 5 hours. Since they are all local trains, you should be able to buy tickets at the station without reservations.

Hope this helps!

Mark

The most convenient airport for Chamonix is Geneva. This Swiss city has regular train (via St-Gervias or Martigny) or bus (direct, in winter also from the airport) services to Chamonix. The bus takes little more than an hour.
Grenoble is less convenient: the airport is about 20 km from central Grenoble and only has an irregular bus transfer service. From Grenoble, you may take the train to Aix-les-Bains/Annecy, then continue to Chamonix via St-Gervais, roughly a 4-hour ride.

Hi Ritchie_Lionheart,

I'll be flying into Geneva Airport on 23 Apr. There is a Chamonix Express (25 Euros per person) that can take us to Chamonix.

You mentioned about a bus service to Chamonix. Are we referring to the same private bus service, or are you referring to some other public bus which could be cheaper?
