We're tempted to do this, but are put off by the price = being wrinklies. Is it worth paying for. All info greatly appreciated. |

There is no cable car to the top of the Matterhorn.
I recommend you do some Zermatt reading first. PJ

The Gondola trip is up to Kleine Matterhorn - allow an hour for the multi stage journey. Wonderful alpine panorama Its expensive but worthwhile.
Another option is the Gornegrat railway - lovely scenery en route , can have pics taken with husky dogs at the top and enjoy splendid glacier views as well as Matterhorn.

The Matterhorn itself has no cable car but to Klein Matterhorn. I must say, it is worth paying! Please check first the virtual tourist tips of Zermatt.

You cannot go up the Matterhorn,but can take the gondala and cable cars to the top of Klein Matterhorn.The view is spectacular but remember it is thousands of feet up and can make breathing difficult if you are not very fit.The mountain train trip up Gornergrat is easier and the views are just as good.You get a brilliant view of the Matterhorn from there too.There is a restaurant,hotel and gift shop.Look out for the wild life from the train especially the marmots.
