In septembre next we (4 adults + luggage) would like to visit Paracas and Islas Ballestas from Lima and one or two days later back to Lima. Where can I find what buscompany to use and what is the timeschedule? Do we need to order our tickets in advance?

Expresso Cruz del Sur will be useful for you. Paracas is 245Km far from Lima (3 hours by car). There are boats to Islas Ballestas in Paracas.

Soyuz bus also do Lima to Pisco and depart every ten minutes or so from Lima, no need to buy in advance.

You can then stay in Pisco and book a tour to the Paracas reserve and Islas Ballesta from the agencies on the Plazza de Armas.

This option will be cheaper but involves a more independent style of travel. Soyuz is not 'tourist class' but a regular service used by Peruvians.

Also bear in mind that Pisco and Paracs were hit by a massive earthquake not so long ago and there maight be a lot of reconstruction going on.

If you have time, it is worth visiting Tambo Colorado, inland from Pisco. You can book from the same agencies or your hotel and it should take about half a day.
