Valparaíso Tour of Valparaiso and Santiago
Posted: Fri February 29, 2008 10:29 PM UTC
Hello
My husband and I are disembarking a cruise ship at Valparaiso on Sunday 30th March and would like take a sight seeing tour of Valparaiso and possibly Santiago and then be taken to the Airport to catch a flight leaving for London at 18.45 pm. The boat docks early in the morning. We would be happy to go alone or be joined by other persons.
Thank you, Frances

VT has several pages of good tips on Valparaiso. But, from what I understand, the journey from Valparaiso is not a short one. Are you prepared to rent a car and travel for many hours or days to reach Santiago?

No, we do not wish to hire a car. We would like to go either with a small group or on our own with a driver. We will have two large cases and two small cases with us, as we need to be taken to the Airport at Santiago at the completion of the tour to arrive at 16.00 pm.. Are there taxis at the Terminal for Cruise Ships, who could perhaps undertake this tour and approximately how much would they charge? Look forward to your reply. thanks Frances

Probably the best way to go would be to take a bus. The first class bus lines in Chile are reported to be very good, and will be surprisingly cheap for you as well. Valparaiso is not a huge city, so finding the bus terminal will be easy.

Nice reply Michael. It's a bit rainy in Valparaiso, isn't it?
