We've booked a trip to Cairo for 2 adults at a total cost of £220. This includes return flights and transfers from our hotel in Sharm, visits to all main attractions, entrance fees, a tour guide, lunch at a 5 star hotel and a boat trip on the Nile.

That's a good deal and quick. However, a far more entertaining way is by car or if time is no object by bus. Buses cost about 50LE each way, car a lot more. I was driven one night from Cairo to Sharm, after waking up bouncing about in the back of a Crysler Town and Country as we smashed thtough the scrub in the desert when the driver fell asleep I drove myself from half way down the gulf. Egyptair pilots never seem to get lost and it's a damn sight quicker!
